About the position

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a full-time Application Developer for Pharmacy Automation and Informatics. This role focuses on workflow analysis, optimization, and the implementation of Epic System software related to pharmacy applications. The developer will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance automated medication-use systems and ensure efficient application performance across all UI Healthcare locations, with the possibility of remote work within Iowa.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct workflow analysis and optimization for pharmacy applications.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze workflows and develop application designs.
  • Create functional and technical specifications for system builds and complex integrated systems.
  • Configure and customize applications to meet user needs.
  • Develop and maintain testing scripts for application updates and upgrades.
  • Perform unit and integrated testing of assigned application workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and debug malfunctioning systems, implementing necessary fixes.
  • Document system design and build processes.
  • Create work plans and provide oversight for assigned projects.
  • Monitor and report progress of work plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or MIS, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in application development or support, preferably in healthcare.
  • Experience in integrated information system implementation, including design, workflow analysis, and testing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of recent pharmacy automation experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting an EHR in an ambulatory or hospital setting.
  • Epic certification related to Willow applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to customize vendor application software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adherence to regulatory requirements.
