About the position

The University of Iowa's Department of Pathology is seeking an Application Developer who will also serve as the primary Social Media Manager. This role involves managing social media accounts, collaborating with department leaders to create content, and analyzing the impact of social media initiatives. The position is full-time, typically Monday to Friday, with the possibility of hybrid work after training.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify content in collaboration with key leaders across the department.
  • Revise, develop, and maintain social media accounts for various uses/platforms.
  • Develop and monitor analytics related to the impact of social media on initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other Application Developers to transition departmental web resources to a CMS.
  • Create applications and design frameworks for social media posts.
  • Build, test, implement, support, and analyze various web applications in the Department of Pathology.
  • Analyze current social media platforms and identify future applications.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends in social media and suggest new platforms or revisions.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or MIS, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3 years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining large scale data-driven web applications.
  • Working experience with Drupal or other CMS platforms.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL, including knowledge of database modeling and design principles.
  • Working experience with web development programming languages (including JavaScript) and frameworks.
  • Basic knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system.
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
  • Knowledge of best practices for web accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
  • Working experience with social media platforms in a professional workplace.
