About the position

The Application Developer will support a diverse team focused on technical innovation, responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and evaluating software applications. The role involves transitioning applications from on-premises to AWS GovCloud while ensuring compliance with government policies. The successful candidate will collaborate with team members and government project managers to analyze existing systems and design appropriate solutions, requiring expertise in multiple web application languages and a strong background in building scalable, high-quality web applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, refactor, enhance, test, and evaluate software applications.
• Support the transition of applications from on-premises to AWS GovCloud.
• Collaborate with team members and government project managers to analyze existing systems.
• Design appropriate solutions for application enhancements or modifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues alongside infrastructure and development teams.

Requirements

• Top Secret clearance is required; TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance is preferred.
• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Computer Security or related field, or three additional years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
• Two or more years of experience as a software developer in building multi-tier framework software applications using object-oriented programming languages, such as Java and Python.
• One or more years of experience with cloud (AWS preferred) application development and management.
• Experience migrating on-premises hosted applications to the cloud (AWS preferred).
• Experience developing cloud native applications (AWS preferred).
• Experience developing SOAP and REST APIs in a client/server environment.
• Experience writing and evaluating regular expressions.
• Experience developing, debugging and/or refactoring code for popular programming languages (i.e., Java, Python).
• Experience with scripting command line tools (e.g., Vim, Bash, PowerShell) to automate command tasks.
• Knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM).
• Knowledge of web-related technologies HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Experience with any major database (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server).

Nice-to-haves

• One or more years of experience with application development leveraging a SQL and/or PostgreSQL database as data storage.
• Experience in gathering and analyzing requirements and direct interaction with a Government customer.
• Experience developing Section 508 compliant applications.
• Experience in a Government client environment and working alongside a Government PM.
• Ability to oversee and guide junior and mid-level team members with project work.
