About the position

The Application Developer (VBA) role within the Finance department at Express Scripts focuses on developing, maintaining, and enhancing Excel-based models used in the underwriting process. This position requires collaboration with various departments to improve profitability forecasting and user experience, while also providing support and training to end-users.

Responsibilities

• Work on enhancement requests and complete all stages of the life cycle (e.g. design, development, testing, release)
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Supply Chain, and other Finance departments to identify opportunities for model enhancements
• Perform extensive testing prior to releasing new functionality into production, including code review, UAT, and Regression testing
• Provide support to end-users by resolving issues and helping them analyze/interpret results from the models
• Develop expert knowledge of primary tools & applications used within the FMA team
• Provide training to the pricing group around SOPs and best-practices for using the FMA's tools and applications

Requirements

• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, primarily VBA development
• SQL and experience with relational databases preferred (Oracle, TD, PostgreSQL and Databricks)
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
• 4+ years of relevant experience in Coding, Software Development, Finance, Underwriting, Pricing, Analytics, or similar field
• Ability to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
• Strong customer service focus
• Clear communication of issues in writing or verbally
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload to meet project deadlines
• Willingness to learn new tools and applications
• Ability to work well independently and in a dynamic, collaborative environment
