About the position

The Department of Labor (DOL) is seeking a senior-level Application Developer to support various projects, particularly focusing on the acquisition of applications for a new Paid Family Medical Leave program. This role is crucial as the vendor for the first acquisition has identified the need for a senior developer to collaborate during the requirement gathering and implementation phases of the project. The selected candidate will receive training in the administration of the application and will be responsible for ongoing support post-implementation. The position is contract-based with a duration of 6 months, and the developer will be expected to work closely with the vendor to ensure that all requirements are accurately identified and met. The role requires a strong background in managing and customizing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications, as well as a solid understanding of MS SQL Services, including SSIS and SSRS. Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for creating requirements documents based on stakeholder meetings and ensuring that all project objectives are achieved efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the vendor to identify project requirements.
  • Administer COTS applications and tailor changes as necessary.
  • Follow the SOM Deployment Certification process.
  • Create requirements documents based on meetings with stakeholders.
  • Provide ongoing support for the application after implementation.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in application development and support.
  • 8 years of experience using MS SQL Services, including SSIS and SSRS.
  • Ability to perform clear communications, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in creating requirements documents based on stakeholder meetings.
  • Ability to administer COTS applications and tailor changes.
