About the position

The Application Developer will design, develop, and maintain baseball-related applications for the St. Louis Cardinals. This role involves collaboration with developers, analysts, systems engineers, and Baseball Operations staff to ensure high-quality data, analytics, and visualizations are accessible to front office members, scouts, coaches, trainers, and players. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, enjoy collaboration, and have a strong interest in baseball.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain baseball-related applications.
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and Baseball Operations staff.
  • Ensure high-quality data and analytics are accessible to users.
  • Build and support applications for player information and performance.
  • Create and maintain intuitive interfaces for users.
  • Investigate and evaluate new technologies for application development.
  • Communicate effectively with Baseball Operations staff for feedback and training.
  • Test and make adjustments to applications developed by the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of web development experience.
  • Experience with web development frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.js.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
  • Experience interfacing with relational databases.
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs.
  • Design and development of user interfaces and backend services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience developing frontend applications using Angular and NestJS in Typescript.
  • Interest in building reusable UI components.
  • Proficiency in designing intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces (UI).
  • Interest in creating data visualizations using frameworks such as d3.js and Three.js.
  • Experience with Javascript testing methodologies and tools.
  • General knowledge of current MLB analytics, news, markets, trends.
