About the position

Open Systems Technologies Corporation is seeking an Application Developer to support the Department of Justice. The role involves designing, developing, enhancing, and evaluating software applications, transitioning them from on-premises to AWS GovCloud while ensuring compliance with government policies. The successful candidate will collaborate with a diverse team to drive technical innovation and troubleshoot issues in a cloud environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, refactor, enhance, test, and evaluate software applications.
  • Support the migration of on-premises applications to AWS GovCloud.
  • Collaborate with team members and Government PM to analyze existing systems and design solutions.
  • Develop cloud-native applications and APIs (SOAP and REST).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues alongside infrastructure and development teams.
  • Coordinate application enhancements or modifications with integrated and non-customer software systems.

Requirements

  • Top Secret clearance required; TS/SCI w CI Poly clearance preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Computer Security or related field, or three additional years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
  • Two or more years of experience as a software developer using object-oriented programming languages (Java, Python).
  • One or more years of experience with cloud application development and management (AWS preferred).
  • Experience migrating on-premises applications to the cloud (AWS preferred).
  • Experience developing SOAP and REST APIs in a client/server environment.
  • Experience with scripting and command line tools (e.g., Vim, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Knowledge of web technologies (HTML5, JavaScript, CSS) and major databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).

Nice-to-haves

  • One or more years of experience with SQL and/or PostgreSQL database application development.
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing requirements with direct interaction with Government customers.
  • Experience developing Section 508 compliant applications.
  • Experience in a Government client environment and working alongside a Government PM.
  • Ability to oversee and guide junior and mid-level team members.
