About the position

Hubs & Gateways, within the Business Division Express, is looking for an Application Specialist, HGW Applications Development & Support. You will be part of the Hubs & Gateways Software Solutions team. The team plays an important role in keeping the application suite for Americas Hubs and Gateways facilities performing as well as developing new capabilities for DHL Express Americas to a high performance level and up and running at all times. Your role is to ensure that all activities for the design, development, and support of the information systems, software applications and databases are executed as planned and use your communication and analytical skills to navigate the team through problems and challenges they might face along the way, eliminating any risk of IT disruptions or outages in line with the DHLE "Zero Defect" mandate.

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute a strategy for Hubs & Gateways IT Software Solutions as build provider (Run and Build services) to the DHL Express IT
• Manage the development and support of new applications, systems software, and upgrades to existing applications throughout their life-cycle
• Ensure that development projects match business needs, requirements and agreed budget, translating end-user requirements into IT solutions, system & program specifications, test plans
• Ensure the highest quality of development, change and testing to eliminate the risk of IT disruptions or outages, in line with the DHL "Zero Defect" mandate
• Provide end-to-end service management (including non-managed third party vendors) and be the point of last resort for resolving all "run time" issues
• Establish and maintain strong team links with business IT, principle users in the business functions, business analysts, architect/designers, and other key stakeholders within the application lifecycle process to understand their requirements for IT services and any concerns they might have with service delivery
• Represent Hubs & Gateways IT Software Solutions, as required, to DHL Express customers, IT vendors and other IT service providers
• Provide regular reports in such areas as activity/project progress, milestones, risks, resource utilization, and quality
• Update and publish Application Roadmaps and Solution Profiles, in accordance with Global standards
• Ensure key activities in Hub and Gateway Software Solutions are underpinned by formal process methodology to ensure repeatability service delivery mechanisms and can be subject to regular process improvement initiatives
• Manage and direct processes, procedures, standards, documentation, time registration, supplier payments etc within the application development & support team
• Lead employees in an extremely dynamic environment
• Establish objectives, targets, and KPIs for the organization annually

Requirements

• 3+ years' professional IT experience in several of the areas indicated under "overall role purpose" in an international, heterogeneous corporation
• Including 3 years' within a similar discipline of IT dev/support
• A bachelor's degree is the minimum academic requirement
• Technical understanding of both systems development (design and test) and systems operation (to defined SLAs)
• Knowledge and experience of managing the application life-cycle and methodologies such as CM-tools, agile, scrum and waterfall methodologies
