About the position

The Application Developer is a highly technical role responsible for overseeing the entire application software development life cycle, including design, implementation, and maintenance of both enterprise and departmental applications. This position requires independent work with decision-making authority within departmental guidelines, and involves collaboration with various city departments and external organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement application goals, objectives, and priorities based on the City's application development initiatives.
  • Act as a project leader from definition to implementation, managing resources to ensure projects are accurate and on schedule.
  • Utilize programming languages and low-code platforms to design, implement, and maintain the City's Information Systems.
  • Provide support and training for software applications, ensuring effective utilization and user assistance.
  • Work on all technical phases of programming, delivering end-to-end solutions based on business and technical requirements.
  • Perform research and information gathering to define, design, create, and document business requirements for reporting solutions.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Internet and Intranet applications, providing technical support to the City's CMS.
  • Identify and resolve problems associated with software applications, assisting in troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate vendor products in technology hardware and software and recommend purchases.
  • Ensure security for Database, Internet, and Intranet Systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, accounting, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of one year experience in programming, database, and systems design, preferably with .NET Framework, ASP.NET, C#, T_SQL, and HTML5.
  • Technical understanding of internet, computer networks, personal computers, and equipment operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Mendix is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL, SSRS, and Crystal reporting.
