About the position

The Application Developer position at Pikes Peak State College is a full-time role responsible for the design, development, testing, debugging, and maintenance of web applications. This position requires conducting research in design and implementing solutions that meet both internal and external documentation standards. The developer will work with Office 365 development tools, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Azure Functions, and Logic Apps, among other related technologies. The role demands both independent work and collaboration within a team environment, ensuring that the applications developed are user-friendly and meet the needs of the college community. In addition to the technical responsibilities, the Application Developer will be involved in the full life cycle of web and Office 365 development. This includes coordinating with supervisors to understand requirements, recommending feature priorities, determining design methodologies, and implementing and maintaining databases. The developer will also be responsible for troubleshooting and updating legacy code, monitoring system performance, and providing level II support for ITSS requests. The position emphasizes the importance of clear documentation of requirements, processes, and technical specifications, as well as maintaining a positive and safe work environment. The college offers flexibility in work arrangements, such as remote work or flextime scheduling, after the completion of training and based on departmental needs. Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in design and develop tests for web applications.
  • Debug and generate internal and external documentation for applications.
  • Implement and maintain web applications using Office 365 development tools.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to determine requirements and feature priorities.
  • Determine design methodologies, tool sets, programming languages, and software products.
  • Design and conduct tests for applications and systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, update, and test legacy code.
  • Review, assign, and close ITSS requests in a timely manner.
  • Document requirements, processes, and technical specifications clearly and punctually.
  • Monitor system performance and provide feedback to supervisors.
  • Keep current on new software technologies through professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Completed associate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Three years of professional level experience developing, managing, and updating a high-volume website.
  • Operational knowledge of one or more commercial content management systems.
  • Experience with Office 365 development tools such as Power Apps, Power Automate, Azure Functions, and Logic Apps.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end technologies (Node.js, .NET, PHP, C#).
  • Demonstrated experience with 508/ADA requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completed advanced degree in computer science, computer information systems, or closely related field.
  • Four or more years of professional level experience developing, managing, and updating a high-volume website.
  • Demonstrated experience with IIS, Apache, or another Web Server.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of versioning, documentation, and software developing tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of web development frameworks (i.e., Bootstrap) and responsive web design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Ajax technologies, languages, libraries, and frameworks.
  • Experience with web services (JASON-RPC, SOAP, REST, or XML-RPC) and API development.
