About the position

The Application Development Engineer for Consumer Electronics at 3M will focus on developing and replicating high-impact applications specifically for the adhesives and conductive materials market. This role involves collaboration with global teams to understand customer needs, provide product launch support, and develop training materials, all while ensuring compliance with company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work with global Application Engineering, Product Development, Sales and Marketing personnel to develop and replicate high impact applications for the consumer electronics market.
  • Identify the best 3M solution for an application by understanding customer needs, testing, and analyzing results.
  • Provide launch support for new product programs by generating supporting documentation, demonstration tools, videos, and training materials.
  • Build a deep understanding of customer needs and competition for the electronics market and provide 'Voice of Customer' insights and new product ideas.
  • Specify 3M products at key OEMs and Tiers on engineering drawings and provide support for transitioning business to manufacturing locations.
  • Develop lab infrastructure to support business plans and work with engineering for procurement of equipment.
  • Provide training to 3M internal sales and marketing teams, new hires, distributors, and customers on the proper use of 3M solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/master's degree in engineering with a major in Polymer science, Chemical, Materials science, or Electronics.
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in customer-facing roles, preferably in the electronics segment.
  • Experience with tapes & adhesives, conductive materials is an advantage.
  • Comfortable in handling testing equipment and analytical instruments.
  • Good understanding of IP protocols and procedures.
  • Exploratory mindset to identify new applications and customer pain areas.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge in converting processes like die-cutting and slitting.
  • Experience with creating digital content using editing software and recording devices.
