About the position
The Application Development/Engineering Manager at Orange County's Credit Union is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and support of both vendor-packaged and custom solutions that enhance the core banking platform (Symitar) and other enterprise applications. This role involves leading a team of developers, collaborating with business units, and ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals while driving innovation and operational efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, build, implementation, and support of core banking solutions and enterprise applications.
- Manage a team of developers, providing guidance and mentorship while ensuring high performance.
- Coordinate activities across multiple teams to resolve issues and align priorities.
- Partner with Product Management to shape product roadmaps that enhance member experience and operational efficiency.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities for strengthening the core banking platform.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in architecting and delivering enterprise-scale solutions.
- 5+ years of experience with core banking applications (Symitar / RepGen / PowerOn).
- 3+ years of leadership experience in coaching and mentoring technical teams.
- 3+ years of project leadership experience with resource planning and financial management.
- Experience in agile environments with knowledge of TDD, CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices.
- Hands-on experience with agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence), GitLab, Elasticsearch, and cloud services (AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in .NET, C#, C++, Java, and JavaScript.

- Experience with event-driven microservices and API management.
- Familiarity with container technology and orchestration services.
