About the position

The Senior Systems Architect position is a critical role for our government client located in Hanover, Maryland. This position is responsible for a wide range of tasks that include evaluating, planning, designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting the integration of IT systems and applications within the organization. The role is structured as a one-year contract with a non-negotiable pay rate of $60.00 per hour. In this role, the Senior Systems Architect will begin by evaluating the existing IT infrastructure across all modal divisions to identify integration needs. This involves developing and planning comprehensive integration strategies that align with the organization's goals. The architect will design integration solutions and create detailed architectural documentation to guide the implementation process. The position requires the planning and execution of the deployment of integrated systems, which includes developing interfaces for system connectivity and providing support during the implementation phase. Clear communication is essential, as the architect will coordinate with various stakeholders, including modal IT SEMs, management, leadership, and other involved parties. The role also involves managing timelines, resources, and budgets effectively. Additionally, the Senior Systems Architect will conduct integration testing to ensure that all systems function as intended and will resolve any technical issues that arise. Compliance with security standards and requirements is a key aspect of this role, as is the training of users and IT staff, along with the documentation of procedures. Finally, the architect will evaluate project success, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement to enhance future projects.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing IT infrastructure across all modal divisions and identify integration needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
  • At least five or more years of experience working in IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, databases, and cloud services in a government or public sector environment are required.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and middleware technologies are required.
  • Proven experience in system integration and IT infrastructure evaluation along with excellent problem solving skills are required.
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams along with strong security standards and compliance requirements are required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) preferred.
