About the position

The Application Engineer at American Fan Company plays a crucial role in supporting customer needs by collaborating with sales representatives, regional managers, and key accounts. This position involves reviewing customer requests, aligning resources, and generating proposals to ensure that products meet specifications while maintaining market sensitivity to pricing and performance. The engineer acts as a liaison between various departments, ensuring effective communication and coordination to maximize sales and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze customer requirements for product applications and recommend suitable product selections.
  • Act as a liaison between engineering and sales representatives regarding product applications and improvements.
  • Serve as a liaison during proposal generation, ensuring all aspects of customer orders are accounted for.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to customers and sales representatives to maximize sales volume.
  • Develop specifications utilizing American Fan equipment and provide input for proposals and pricing.
  • Estimate costs of recommended equipment selections and ensure orders are consistent with quotes.
  • Prepare formal quotations including data sheets and price calculations according to specifications.
  • Coordinate with personnel to determine in-plant equipment testing requirements.
  • Maintain proficiency in application engineering skills and tools.
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture within the organization.
  • Represent the company with customers and business partners on and offsite.
  • Engage in continuous improvement for processes related to the job role.
  • Recognize and resolve customer satisfaction issues.
  • Prepare documents for review meetings in support of ERP and CRM systems.
  • Identify and propose new market opportunities and provide input on competitive products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years applications experience in the fan or rotating equipment industry.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High moral and ethical standards with respect for individuals and teams.
  • Strong work ethic and goal-setting abilities.
  • Proven ability to assess complex issues and identify root causes.
  • Decision-making skills with knowledge of varying styles and escalation processes.
  • Ability to interact with diverse cultures and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Effective presentation skills in formal and informal settings.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Software.
