About the position

The Application Engineer - TM1 / Planning Analytics role at Amazon involves being part of a customer-centric team within the World Wide Amazon Stores Finance. This position focuses on leveraging innovative technology to address significant customer needs, particularly in the areas of financial planning and analytics. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to develop technical solutions that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with software engineers, application engineers, data engineers, and product managers to develop technical solutions.
  • Solve complex customer problems in the finance and analytics space.
  • Develop proof of concepts quickly to demonstrate potential solutions.
  • Lead and deliver complex technical systems that meet customer needs.
  • Engage in system configuration, model building, and report/dashboard development using TM1.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with IBM Cognos TM1/Planning Analytics, including system configuration and model building.
  • Proficiency in TM1 technical skills such as Rules and TI coding, security setup, and report development.
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
  • Corporate finance experience with knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Familiarity with at least one modern scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala, NodeJS).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles.
  • Working experience with TM1Py and REST API.
  • Experience with non-relational databases or data stores.
  • Experience in designing and delivering formal training programs.
  • Project management experience including scoping, reporting, and scheduling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
