About the position

The Application Engineer - Commercial Gears at WEG Electric Corp. is responsible for serving as the technical liaison for commercial gear and DC motor customers. This role involves translating customer requirements into product solutions, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and providing technical proposals to enhance customer experience and promote sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical liaison for commercial gear and DC motor customers, translating customer requirements into product solutions.
  • Coordinate expertise and recommend solutions from cross-functional teams for application and performance problems related to DC motors and gearmotors.
  • Interact with sales team and customers to translate complex applications into product specifications and provide technical proposals.
  • Provide input to leadership on commercial gear applications and customer requirements to improve product design.
  • Solve problems with an understanding of tradeoffs to drive optimized designs.
  • Act as the subject matter expert at customer sites, serving as the main contact between customer engineering teams and WEG's engineering team.
  • Support routine product introductions, deviations, and new product introductions.
  • Provide leadership and timely resolution to outstanding customer issues.
  • Lead or support internal qualification efforts on design changes and transition projects, conducting competitive analysis on other manufacturers' motors.
  • Support business with other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent related experience.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects.
  • Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating working relationships with all levels of personnel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong customer-focused behavior.
  • Familiarity with the gear, gearmotor, DC motor, or similar industry.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel as needed (20% - 30%) in the US.
