About the position

WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for an Application Engineer to join our team in Duluth, GA. In this role, you will serve as a vital liaison between the customer, the Direct Sales Force, and all operating departments within WEG Commercial Motors, WEG Electric Corp, and other WEG operation facilities around the globe. This position is integral to the development of new business opportunities, working closely with Outside Sales to engage with customers through both virtual and face-to-face visits, with some travel expected. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate new motor development, prepare quotation proposals, and provide technical support for all assigned new business opportunities, ensuring that customer requirements, expectations, and satisfaction are met. As an Application Engineer, you will communicate effectively with Field Sales, customers, and factories, developing your industry experience through various means such as periodicals, internet research, conference participation, and site visits. You will review requests for quotations, lead and take ownership of the quotation process by soliciting feedback from Sales or directly from customers when appropriate, and develop proposals for collaboration. Identifying project and customer details will be crucial for determining quotation strategies, and you will compile accurate quotations based on WEG's offerings while adhering to minimum pricing guidelines established by management. Additionally, you will identify opportunities for alternate pricing when necessary, accurately receive and review Purchase Orders, generate order entry materials, and organize all quotation and order documentation both electronically and in hard copies as needed. Other duties and tasks may be assigned as required.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with Field Sales, Customer(s), and factories effectively.
  • Develops industry experience through periodicals, internet research, conference participation, and site visits.
  • Reviews requests for quotations including specifications, emails, and phone calls.
  • Leads and takes ownership of the quotation/opportunity by requesting feedback from Sales or directly from customers.
  • Identifies project/customer details vital for determining quotation strategy.
  • Compiles an accurate quotation to customers of WEG's offering.
  • Follows minimum pricing guidelines as established by management.
  • Identifies opportunities to management when alternate pricing is needed.
  • Accurately receives and reviews Purchase Orders as needed.
  • Generates order entry material.
  • Organizes all quotation/order documentation electronically and in hard copies if needed.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from a four-year college or university or equivalent in related work experience.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Understands basic motor principles.
  • Understands medium to complex level specifications.
  • Knowledge of industry standards/specifications such as NEMA MG1, IEEE 841.
  • In-house application programs to secure medium to complex level designs without factory support.
  • Moderate understanding of the sales process for Commercial Motor products.
  • Moderate understanding of the industry requirements and applications.
  • Moderate understanding of OEMs of the industry assigned.
  • Moderate understanding of marketing trends and legislation/environment changes that can affect the business.
  • Moderate understanding of competition and their strong/weak points.
  • Able to read, speak, understand and compose clear technical dialog in English.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively handle and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
