About the position

HOERBIGER Corporation of America (HCA) is seeking an Application Engineer for our manufacturing plant in Pompano Beach, FL. HCA is a dynamic manufacturer of precision compressor valves and components. The Application Engineer's primary responsibility is selecting and configuring compressor valve equipment, piping check valves, packing cases, and compressor rod packing rings for OEM and HOERBIGER Service customers using established design standards and procedures. The position learns and executes established engineering design practice and keeps Account Managers informed of issues that affect the business. The role involves maintaining and supporting a standard valve product portfolio for OEM accounts, conducting inspections of parts, and writing technical reports that describe observations and recommendations. The Application Engineer will manage their own projects, ensuring objectives and deliverables are defined, maintaining project status in the Workflow system, and coordinating activities. A proactive approach is essential when technical problems occur, requiring the incumbent to summarize facts, identify options, discuss the merits of each option, and select a solution. The incumbent is expected to be available for technical support for emergencies at our Manufacturing Facility and be able to travel to customer sites for unit down situations which cannot be resolved via remote assistance (estimated 2-3 trips per year). The position is full-time, regularly scheduled on weekdays, but may require after-hours calls or work on/off shifts, weekends, and holidays. The job may also require hands-on work, which can involve getting oily and dirty, and necessitates collaboration with operators and machinists with varying language and machining skills. Additionally, air travel with short notice to OEMs and/or End Users for product support may be required, including travel to offshore platforms via boat or helicopter, and the candidate must be eligible for a TWIC card. International travel for product support in Canada and attendance at training and meetings at the company headquarters in Vienna, Austria, is also part of the role.
