About the position

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a dedicated individual who desires continual growth and learning in automation. You will become part of our Application Engineering team in the Upper Midwest providing technical support to our utility and industrial customers. You will teach our customers how to apply our products, supporting our mission to make electric power safer, more reliable, and more economical. Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve your knowledge of automation and communication systems and all related SEL products.
  • Help customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses and telephone contact.
  • Contribute to product specifications, software development, software application, and literature.
  • Participate in SEL marketing and sales activities and industry technical meetings and conferences.
  • Teach in training schools for customers and SEL personnel.
  • Write technical documents for internal use and technical conferences.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, equivalent degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years' experience in automation systems.
  • Completed an SEL Engineering Development Program or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven technical training, speaking, writing, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to direct daily work activities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel 25-35%.
