About the position

The Application Engineer I - Motor Technology role is part of the Commercial Operations Team, focusing on supporting customers throughout their product development cycles. This position combines application engineering and project management to address target application needs as outlined in Portescap's strategic plans. The role involves managing critical projects based on customer timelines and requirements, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver optimal motion solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Map and scope technical requirements based on customer applications and recommend technical solutions with cross-functional support.
  • Engage with customers to understand end-product requirements and recommend motion solutions.
  • Translate the Voice-of-Customer into Voice-of-Design technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with customers and the Portescap commercial team to create competitive advantages and value for end-users.
  • Visit customers at key program milestones to ensure fulfillment of requirements and maintain competitive lead.
  • Manage customer programs and coordinate with Portescap resources through the Production Qualification stage, maintaining and reporting on program status.
  • Support the stage gate process for critical programs during development and present business cases for custom-product program investments.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop and present technical-commercial proposals to customers.
  • Collect customer and market requirement trends to guide product roadmap.
  • Coordinate with other Program Managers and Application Engineers on related processes.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electro-mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related discipline is required.
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in application engineering or project management.
  • Experience within the motion control industry is preferred.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages (French/German) are a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to set and achieve goals with strong planning and organization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and manage a flexible schedule.
