About the position

The Application Engineer II plays a critical role in interpreting customer specifications and analyzing technical requirements to select appropriate G&W products for various applications. This position emphasizes technical knowledge, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, while also incorporating a strong teaching and mentoring component. The role supports career development into areas such as product management, field sales, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all application engineering procedures are being followed by AEs during onboarding
• Provide input to Lead Application Engineer regarding performance of Application Engineer I in training
• Fully and accurately determine the technical and commercial requirements of the application
• Select the appropriate G&W product to meet these requirements
• Develop accurate cost models for both standard and custom equipment
• Determine price levels and lead times
• Communicate requirements to G&W's internal teams for engineering and manufacturing
• Partner with Sales Team to develop and present customer sales strategies
• Partner with customers and Engineering team to develop custom solutions
• Manage the commercial and technical aspects of the customer
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal resources and Sales Team
• Provide timely and effective verbal and written communication to internal resources and Sales Team

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• 3-5 years of experience in an Application Engineering role at G&W Electric
• 8 years of experience in an Application Engineering role is acceptable without a degree
• Ideally has a concentration in Power Engineering
