About the position

As an Application Engineer II at Johnson Controls International, you will play a crucial role in providing commercial and technical support for our Air Handling Units (AHU). This position involves a full range of field support functions, requiring specialized qualifications and a strong understanding of engineering principles. You will work closely with a small team of technical employees to address product support requests from the sales organization, ensuring that all inquiries are met with eloquent and effective solutions. Your role will emphasize the Basis of Design, which is critical for the successful application of our products in various projects. In this position, you will be responsible for delivering application training and project management support as needed, particularly in relation to Air Handling Systems. You will also facilitate customer visits, including factory tours, to enhance client relationships and provide insights into our products. Your participation in testing AHU selection and pricing software will be essential for refining our offerings and ensuring they meet market demands. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will partner with internal teams such as manufacturing, engineering, and Customer Service to resolve order issues and develop efficient solutions for unique product applications. You will assist the Airside Technical Service team with field application issues, ensuring that our products are utilized effectively in the field. Additionally, you will be tasked with developing technical documents that support the field sales team in various aspects of air handling applications. Your problem-solving skills will be put to the test as you utilize complex techniques to address challenges that arise. You will review and analyze engineering rules and documents, recommending cost-saving and value engineering alternatives for our Air Handling Units and systems. Providing technical direction to other specialists, drafters, or technicians on specific assignments will also be part of your responsibilities. Proficiency in preparing, checking, and coordinating the release of documentation to support our products is essential, as is the ability to extrapolate ideas into product requirements while applying concurrent engineering principles. Conducting feasibility studies and systems analysis for new applications will be part of your continuous improvement efforts in product development and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide commercial and technical application support to the field sales organization on all aspects of products with minimal direction.
  • Work with a small team of technical employees to provide eloquent resolutions to the selling organization requests for product support with a strong emphasis on Basis of Design.
  • Provide application training and project management, as the need arises, on Air Handling Systems.
  • Support Customer Visits (factory tours).
  • Participate in testing of AHU selection and pricing software.
  • Partner with internal teams such as manufacturing, engineering, and Customer Service to resolve order issues.
  • Work with engineering to develop efficient resolutions to unique product applications.
  • Assist Airside Technical Service with field application issues.
  • Develop technical documents to support field sales on various areas of air handling application as necessary.
  • Use complex problem-solving techniques requiring regular use of resourcefulness and creativity.
  • Review and analyze engineering rules and documents as necessary.
  • Recommend cost savings and value engineering alternatives for Air Handling Units and systems.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering (ABET accredited) or related science.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in related field.
