About the position

The Application Engineer II at G&W Electric is responsible for determining the technical and commercial requirements of applications, selecting appropriate products, and developing cost models. This role involves collaboration with sales and engineering teams to create custom solutions for customers while managing the commercial and technical aspects of projects. The position emphasizes strong communication and relationship-building skills to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Fully determine the technical and commercial requirements of the application.
  • Select the appropriate G&W product to meet these requirements.
  • Develop accurate cost models for both standard and custom equipment.
  • Determine and negotiate price levels and lead times.
  • Communicate these requirements to G&W's Order Management team for engineering and manufacturing.
  • Partner with Sales Team to develop and present customer sales strategies.
  • Partner with customers and our Engineering team to develop custom solutions that satisfy their needs.
  • Manage the commercial and technical aspects of the customer.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our internal resources and Sales Team.
  • Provide timely and effective verbal and written communication to our internal resources and Sales Team.
  • Collaborate with Application Engineering management to improve department quality, throughput and to reduce scrap/rework.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college - A concentration in Power Engineering is highly desired.
  • 3 years of experience in an Application Engineering role at G&W Electric.
  • 5 years of experience in an Application Engineering role outside G&W.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with switchgear, reclosers, SF6 insulated and dielectric insulated switches.
