About the position

The Vehicle Systems Application Engineering Team is responsible for creating detailed design and installation drawings based on the Statement of Work (SOW). As an Application Engineer, you will ensure that designs are feasible and meet all necessary requirements. You will collaborate closely with the research and development department to integrate new technologies and improvements into existing designs. This role also involves working with the sales team to fully understand customer requirements and ensure that our solutions meet their needs. You will maintain your professional and technical knowledge through continuous learning and participation in professional societies, contributing to the overall success of the team. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will carry out site surveys and complete Fire Risk Assessments, acting as a customer liaison at multiple levels. Your ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively will be essential in achieving project goals and ensuring customer satisfaction. Responsibilities

  • Creates system design and installation drawings per the SOW
  • Makes modifications to existing designs or products to improve their performance or to integrate new technology
  • Ensures proper application and use of the proposed product
  • Collaborates with the research and development department to integrate new improvements into designs
  • Assists and works with the sales team to fully understand customer requirements
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications
  • Participates in professional societies and establishes personal networks
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
  • Carries out site surveys and completes Fire Risk Assessments
  • Acts as a customer liaison at multiple levels

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in application engineering or related field
  • Strong understanding of design and installation standards
  • Proficient in CAD software and design tools
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with vehicle systems or related technologies
  • Familiarity with federal codes and standards
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role
  • Knowledge of fire safety regulations and assessments
