About the position

The Application Engineer (Inside Sales) role at Bastian Solutions involves developing strong relationships with industrial clients in a designated territory, providing tailored material handling and automation solutions. The position focuses on understanding client needs and delivering exceptional service to enhance productivity and competitiveness in their markets. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, sales acumen, and relationship-building skills to succeed in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Spend time in the field with key customers to address their material handling needs
  • Develop strong relationships with customers through regular visits
  • Study and apply the Strategic Selling Process
  • Master product information through training and personal efforts
  • Provide professional quotes and complete sales orders accurately
  • Master business technology including AutoCAD and CRM systems
  • Plan strategies for territory penetration and account management
  • Pursue educational certifications related to logistics
  • Follow up on leads from suppliers within 4 business days
  • Maintain current customer database information in CRM
  • Communicate effectively with team members
  • Share strategic information regarding suppliers, customers, and competition
  • Follow the Systems Checklist and Gantt critical steps for systems projects
  • Maintain positive cash flow on systems projects and follow up on overdue accounts
  • Complete all administrative tasks and paperwork in a timely manner
  • Attend weekly sales meetings and other scheduled meetings on time
  • Network with business contacts within the territory

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Discipline
  • Technical sales experience in the industrial sector
  • Material Handling automation design and sales experience
  • CAD experience, particularly with AutoCAD
  • Strong understanding of the Strategic Selling Process
  • Creative in designing and engineering industrial automation solutions
  • Optimistic and proactive in pursuing opportunities
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Ability to operate independently and autonomously
  • Strong sense of customer service
  • Team player who collaborates with others to win sales

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with logistics certifications such as GA Tech Logistics
  • Familiarity with various business technologies
