The Application Engineering Specialist is a seasoned professional with expertise in a specific area of application development. Their role involves imparting deep technical knowledge, mentoring junior engineers, and actively contributing to critical projects. The Application Engineering Specialist will serve as a Subject Matter Expert, possessing specialized knowledge in multiple domains such as reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and ion exchange, as well as applications like UPW systems and industrial water reuse/recovery. This role requires providing technical consultation to advise on complex challenges, engaging in research and development to explore new technologies and tools, and ensuring quality assurance by reviewing code and adherence to standards. Additionally, the specialist will be responsible for training and mentoring junior engineers, fostering a positive team culture, and collaborating with various stakeholders to develop cost-effective solutions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a changing environment, proactively addressing obstacles and finding effective solutions while collaborating with colleagues to drive results. Responsibilities

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Specialized knowledge in multiple domains (e.g., reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, ion exchange) and applications (e.g., UPW systems, industrial water reuse/recovery).
  • Technical Consultation: Advise on complex technical challenges.
  • Research and Development: Explore new technologies and tools.
  • Quality Assurance: Review code and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Training and Mentorship: Guide junior engineers.
  • Drive Discovery: Engage with sales, business developers, and customers to uncover and understand particular issues, needs, drivers, and constraints for assigned opportunities.
  • Develop Cost-Effective Solutions: Use product knowledge, process tools, and stakeholder engagement to evaluate treatment alternatives and determine optimal solutions.
  • Coordinate Matrixed Teams: Foster a positive team culture and encourage collaboration with various stakeholders to verify fully-vetted offerings.
  • Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Thrive in a changing environment and proactively address obstacles.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with at least 10 years experience or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts of water treatment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with water treatment methodologies.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to coordinate the work of multi-disciplinary teams.
