About the position

The Application Engineer for the Medical Group at Makino plays a crucial role in supporting the sales team by providing technical application engineering expertise, particularly focused on medical industry implants and instrumentation components. This position involves performing test cuts, assisting with customer startups, and transferring technical knowledge to customers, ensuring they can effectively utilize Makino's advanced machining technology.

Responsibilities

• Perform test cuts, machine demonstrations, and support marketing material development for the Medical Industry.
• Assist customers with startup and transfer technical knowledge on newly sold Makino equipment at their facilities.
• Provide applications engineering support to the sales team by visiting customer facilities and assisting with machine and engineering support proposals.
• Setup, generate NC programs, build tooling, and complete test cut requests from sales inquiries leading to machine orders.
• Conduct industry-specific R&D of emerging technologies to provide a competitive advantage for Makino and its customers.

Requirements

• 4 to 6 years of experience with setup, programming, and operation of multi-axis (3, 4, & 5 axis) machining centers.
• 2 to 4 years proficiency in using a CAD/CAM system to generate multi-axis NC programs, preferably Mastercam, Siemens NX, or Solidworks.
• Understanding of fixturing basics and concepts.
• Ability to interface with potential customers and present a professional image.
• Technical aptitude/knowledge and logical troubleshooting skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products is required.
• Willingness to travel around 25%.
