About the position

As an Application Engineer at 3M, you will play a pivotal role in providing engineering support for the general industrial and medical equipment market. This position is designed for individuals who possess strong leadership skills and the ability to make informed decisions based on factual data. You will be tasked with identifying and addressing issues in the areas of acoustics and thermal engineering, ensuring that you can effectively separate symptoms from underlying problems. The work environment is dynamic, combining time spent in the hybrid office, the Acoustic Technology Center, and fieldwork with customers, allowing for a diverse range of experiences and challenges. In this role, you will lead initiatives aimed at driving growth through collaboration with customers, developing new applications, and commercializing innovative products. Your responsibilities will include coordinating field trials with key customers, evaluating local competition, and analyzing marketing practices to enhance product offerings. You will also focus on replicating and developing high-impact product/market applications, leveraging e-tools to ensure efficient replication and application development. As a Senior Applications Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on programs of significant importance to Aearo's interests, supporting innovative applications and extensions of existing technologies, products, or businesses. This position is hybrid eligible, allowing for some remote work, but it requires travel to Indianapolis, IN at least two days per week. You may also be expected to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally. Relocation assistance may be authorized for the right candidate. It is essential that candidates are legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status. Additionally, compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws is a critical aspect of this role, as responsibilities may involve access to information and technologies subject to these regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for the general industrial and medical equipment market.
  • Lead efforts to drive growth through customer collaborations, new application development, and new product commercialization.
  • Coordinate field trials with lead customers and evaluate local competition and marketing practices.
  • Replicate and develop high impact product/market applications focusing on new application development and efficient replication using e-tools.
  • Lead programs of major importance to Aearo's interests, supporting innovative applications and extensions of existing technologies, products, or businesses.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership skills and decision-making ability.
