About the position

The Application Engineer will play a crucial role in the sales support team at Mueller, focusing on developing bid prices for municipal water and wastewater treatment plants. This position involves tracking new projects, interpreting plans and specifications, and collaborating with contractors and engineers to ensure accurate proposals and customer satisfaction. The role is integral to the company's mission of providing clean drinking water and requires strong technical skills and customer-focused service.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and complete product quotations & proposals.
  • Read product specifications and ensure proposals are accurate and complete.
  • Provide proposals to the proper parties on time to meet bid deadlines.
  • Apply the company's products to meet customer specifications while protecting the company's interests.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues, ensuring all paperwork is completed and followed up on until resolved.
  • Act as a liaison between outside sales representatives/customers and manufacturing locations.
  • Provide current information on expedite requests and lead times to Planners and Manufacturing Department Heads.
  • Engage in opportunistic and add-on sales activities, including developing custom designs to meet regional market needs.
  • Carry out additional job responsibilities and duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, technology, business, or a sales-related discipline.
  • Strong technical background, including the ability to read drawings, equipment specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Proven ability to initiate and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
  • Good technical aptitude and ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two or more years of inside sales or customer service experience.
  • Intermediate computer experience with the ability to quickly learn new programs.
  • Experience with mainframe programs that include inventory control, such as AS400/JD Edwards (JDE, E1).
  • Experience with phone-based customer service support systems.
