About the position

Ziegler CAT is seeking an Application Engineer for its OEM division, a pivotal role that provides engineering support to OEM customers and Ziegler Power Systems Sales Personnel. This position is characterized by a fast-paced environment and a wide range of responsibilities, allowing for significant autonomy as you collaborate with customers to integrate CAT engines into their chassis. The role demands a proactive approach and innovative thinking, as you will work closely with the engineering teams of our customers to ensure successful installations of our products. In this role, you will meet with customers to define their total requirements and work directly with their engineering personnel to assess their power systems needs. You will assist them in identifying the most efficient product solutions, compiling the necessary technical data to help them make informed purchasing decisions regarding our engines. Participation in technical sales calls and presentations is also a key aspect of this position, where you will engage in discussions about customer engine forecasting and orders to minimize inventory levels. As a key negotiator for all commercial aspects of assigned accounts, you will develop or package 3D drawing packages of the engine and related components tailored for each customer. Additionally, you will provide on-site field support to OEM customers, assisting with the integration of our engines and conducting field audits and testing of installed engine systems in OEM equipment. Managing customer engine inventory, forecasts, and orders will also be part of your responsibilities, along with documenting the engine and component specifications required by individual customers.

Responsibilities

  • Meets with customer to define total requirements

  • Participate in technical sales calls and presentations
  • Engages in customer engine forecasting and engine orders to minimize inventory
  • Acts as key negotiator on all commercial aspects of assigned accounts
  • Develop or package 3D drawing packages of the engine and related components recommended for each customer
  • Provide on-site field support to OEM customers to assist with the integration of our engine
  • Complete field audits and testing of installed engine installations in OEM equipment
  • Manages customer engine inventory, forecasts and engine orders
  • Documents the engine and component specifications required by individual customers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience with HS Diploma/GED
  • 2 year industry-related experience preferred
  • 1 year sales experience preferred
  • Acceptable driving record and valid driver's license required
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Strong PC knowledge with MS Office experience
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
  • Electrical Power, Electrician, Generator or Reciprocating Engine experience desired
