About the position

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the oversight of design and implementation of products assigned to your team. This role requires you to think critically and independently, as you will be expected to take user stories and new features from concept to production without supervision. You will actively manage and escalate risks and customer-impacting issues to management, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. Utilizing Discover's Agile Way of Working, you will develop and configure solutions within ServiceNow in partnership with your Product Owner. Your participation in Agile ceremonies will be crucial to ensure that the work is completed effectively and efficiently. You will partner with the Product Owner to define a strategic product roadmap for your technology/business domain, proposing opportunities to solve business problems and enhance process efficiencies using your knowledge of the ServiceNow Platform. In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will actively engage in our Continuous Professional Education and Discover Technology Academy programs to drive your skill and career development. You will also participate in a rotating support schedule for Incident Management and general Consumer Service requests, ensuring that our customers receive the best possible service. Your role will involve analyzing, designing, programming, testing, and deploying new user stories and features with a focus on security, reliability, and operational excellence. You will mentor Associate Application Engineers, providing them with learning tasks and directing the work of Senior Associate Application Engineers to help them grow in their careers. By using informal leadership and highly developed communication skills, you will achieve team commitments and influence others to do the same. You will have oversight on design decisions and guide your team to achieve key results for the products assigned to you, remediating issues using engineering principles and creating proactive design solutions for potential failures. Additionally, you will contribute to and lead technology communities at Discover, enhancing our engineering practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee design and implementation of assigned products.
  • Manage and escalate risk and customer-impacting issues to management.
  • Develop and configure solutions within ServiceNow in partnership with the Product Owner.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies to ensure work is completed effectively.
  • Define a strategic product roadmap for the technology/business domain with the Product Owner.
  • Propose opportunities to solve business problems and enhance process efficiencies using ServiceNow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related fields.
  • Technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale (internal applicants only).

Nice-to-haves

  • 4+ years of ServiceNow Development Experience or 6+ years of Application Development Experience.
  • Experience implementing two or more ServiceNow capabilities such as ITSM, Performance Analytics, or Security Operations.
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer or other relevant certifications.
  • Knowledge of Angular, React, Redux, and Java application frameworks.
  • Experience building secure web applications with user authentication.
  • Understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
  • Experience in GRC, IRM is a strong plus.
