About the position

The Application Engineer - Solutions / Large Projects at Siemens will play a crucial role in the Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit by preparing comprehensive technical and commercial proposals tailored to customer needs. This position involves collaboration with sales teams to address technical, contractual, and commercial issues, ensuring competitive pricing and effective solutions for the industrial, construction, and utility markets. The role is hybrid, requiring both remote work and in-office attendance as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer specifications and commercial/technical documents.
  • Identify and define the preliminary scope of work for complete solutions.
  • Prepare technical configurations for electrical products using Siemens tools.
  • Create 2D or 3D layout drawings to demonstrate intended solutions.
  • Prepare RFQ packages for third-party products and collaborate with the procurement team.
  • Evaluate quotes received and make technical recommendations.
  • Develop cost models for quotations and secure management approvals.
  • Prepare customer-facing proposal packages for the complete scope of work.
  • Engage in customer discussions to support business development and sales teams.
  • Collaborate with the PMO team for project handover from bid phase to execution phase.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a minimum of 15 years of engineering experience in an EPC, engineering, manufacturing, utility, or industrial environment.
  • Experience with medium voltage electrical distribution products and power systems.
  • Knowledge of relay P&C schemes, schematics, and communication network diagrams.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for power distribution applications.
  • Ability to analyze technical documentation and apply Siemens product offerings effectively.
  • Basic financial knowledge for business planning and project lifecycle management.
  • Excellent collaboration, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers.
  • Ability to identify market trends and collaborate with marketing and technology teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and product configuration/pricing applications.
  • Experience with electrical and 2D layout drawing tools such as AutoCad and Visio.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with integration of medium voltage electrical distribution products within E Houses/Buildings.
  • Familiarity with IBC, NEC, and NFPA codes and standards for E Houses/Buildings.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience with 3D layout drawing tools such as AutoCad and Revit.
  • PE/PMP certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management Tools like Salesforce.com.
