About the position

The Application Engineer/Technical Support Engineer at Zerova Technologies is responsible for providing technical support to field engineers and customers, focusing on problem-solving, diagnosis, repair, installation, and customer training related to electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions. This role involves collaboration with various teams to enhance serviceability and reliability of products, as well as delivering root cause analysis reports for technical support cases.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to field engineers and customers, including technical problem-solving, diagnosis, repair, installation, modification, system upgrades, and customer training.
  • Conduct problem analysis and identify issues of varying complexity.
  • Effectively manage escalations and critical customer situations.
  • Collaborate closely with field support, engineering, and operations teams to offer feedback on serviceability, reliability, ease of installation, upgrades, and other quality metrics related to customer tools and issues.
  • Deliver Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports for each technical support case.
  • Capable of replacing various components within an EVSE station.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in technical support or troubleshooting.
  • Proven skills and experience in electrical wiring, product reliability, testing, or quality engineering.
  • Experience with electric vehicle systems/components, including RESS, motors, motor controllers, charging systems, high voltage, lithium batteries, and/or EV/HEV control systems.
  • Ability to handle and resolve field-related issues to minimize downtime.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Knowledge of basic TCP/IP is required; understanding of 7-layer application protocols is a strong advantage.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in reading block/wiring diagrams.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Comfortable working with wiring, installation, and diagnosis of 3-phase AC power connections.
  • Experience in updating firmware for Linux kernel devices.
  • Quickly grasps the functional algorithms of EVSE applications (e.g., AC contactor, breaker, boards).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
