About the position

The Application Engineer, Thermal plays a crucial role in supporting sales representatives and customers by providing technical assistance related to Vertiv's thermal management products and services. This position acts as a bridge between the field and various internal departments, ensuring that customer needs are met through effective communication and technical expertise. Responsibilities include assisting with product features, pricing, and custom solutions, as well as participating in customer visits and product development processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides applications sales support.
  • Applies Quote Configurator tool to provide comprehensive quote support.
  • Performs equipment performance runs on Vertiv thermal management equipment.
  • Assists in developing clear, concise, and technically sound tailored solutions for customer review and acceptance based on customer requirements and/or Request for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Assists in the review of custom equipment orders and provides technical instruction throughout the order workflow.
  • Executes technical sales operations tasks such as change order and engineer to order (ETO) processing.
  • Presents to customers or Vertiv colleagues on technical topics.
  • Provides product application training to the Vertiv sales organization in local offices or at the Vertiv Academy.
  • May assist in providing product support to Offering Managers.
  • May participate in new product development projects.

Requirements

  • 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial systems engineering preferred (or equivalent of education and experience).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Proficient and fluent in English including technical terminology.
  • Understanding of commercial infrastructure design objectives, performance factors, and physical requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Commercial or relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with technical scope review and formal proposal development.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and one-line diagrams.
  • Presentation and public speaking experience.
