About the position

Danfoss is seeking candidates for its Application Engineer Trainee program located in Loves Park, IL. This program is designed for individuals who are passionate about sustainability and eager to develop their skills in supporting variable speed drive and electrification applications. Participants will engage with a variety of application areas including Electrification, Water, HVAC, and Heavy Industries, with the goal of solving customer issues through a technical approach. The program aims to cultivate a team capable of winning market share by addressing customer needs effectively. Throughout the trainee program, participants will have the opportunity to define their responsibilities in collaboration with their mentor and manager. As they gain competency, trainees will be involved in developing application solutions that leverage Danfoss's Drives product portfolio, interacting with key customers to understand their requirements, providing on-site support, and creating technical documentation for applications engineering tasks. Continuous learning and professional development are emphasized, ensuring that trainees are well-prepared for future roles within the company. Upon successful completion of the program, trainees may transition into various positions such as Pre-Sales Application Engineering, Application Development Center support, or Post-Sales Application Engineering, depending on the available opportunities at that time. This program not only offers a pathway for career advancement but also exposes participants to diverse technical challenges and innovative projects within a supportive and inclusive work culture.

Responsibilities

  • Develop application solutions leveraging the Drives product portfolio.
  • Interact with key customers to understand their requirements at a systems level and provide technical support.
  • Provide on-site support to customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field, or comparable technical work experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with customers and team members.
  • Curious and creative, able to create innovative solutions to problems given constraints.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Technical skills in electrical systems, including motors, power conversion, controls, and communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High motivation to make positive contributions to the team and business.
