Technical Solutions Inc. is currently seeking an Applications Engineer on behalf of our client, a Pittsburgh area manufacturer. This position is a permanent full-time role that requires an experienced individual to provide solution-based assistance for customers' assembly-based technical inquiries. The Applications Engineer will play a crucial role in application testing and evaluation, assisting customers in product selection, conceptualizing solutions, and preparing proposals. This role is essential in ensuring that customers receive the best possible solutions tailored to their specific needs, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the manufacturing industry, particularly in automation, and will be adept at interpreting mechanical drawings as well as electrical and pneumatic schematics. The Applications Engineer will also be expected to have hands-on experience with conventional tool room equipment, including manual lathes, mills, and surface grinders, as well as CNC machines. A solid understanding of PLC-based controls is also necessary for this role. The position may involve occasional travel, estimated at up to 5% annually, to meet with clients and assess their needs directly. In addition to technical skills, the Applications Engineer must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to effectively convey complex technical information to clients and collaborate with team members. The ability to self-motivate, stay organized, and solve problems efficiently is crucial for success in this role. The Applications Engineer will be a key player in bridging the gap between technical capabilities and customer requirements, ensuring that the solutions provided are not only effective but also innovative and aligned with industry standards.
