About the position

The Application Engineer at Stantec will play a crucial role in supporting the Paragon Capital Asset Planning & Management System, which is a cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solution. This position involves assisting with deployments, data migration, technical support, and testing to ensure client satisfaction. The role offers opportunities for growth in various technical fields, including Product Management and Cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

  • Become intimately familiar with the Paragon Capital Asset Planning & Management System, including its usage and database schema.
  • Provide first-tier application support for customer inquiries and issues promptly.
  • Ensure the performance, operation, integrity, and stability of applications and databases through functional and technical support.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA teams, IT, and security personnel to execute database projects according to requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of enhancements and new functionalities from a database perspective, particularly with SQL Server.
  • Monitor database stability and performance, optimizing through query tuning and schema changes.
  • Develop custom queries to meet client-specific output requirements.
  • Manage data exporting and importing projects across database systems for client needs.
  • Test new Release Candidates to ensure issues are resolved and new features function correctly.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to learn new software tools and techniques quickly.
  • Strong problem interpretation and solving skills.
  • Ability to translate technical information for a less-technical audience.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented mindset.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, especially in a remote setting.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Prolonged computer use is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or MCSE certifications, particularly in SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JSON, and Visual Studio for troubleshooting at the source code level.
  • Experience developing or supporting C# applications and working with IIS.
  • Experience with MS-Access and supporting/developing database systems.
  • Familiarity with Capital Asset Management principles.
