About the position

The Applications Engineer at Diagraph is responsible for providing pre-sales technical support and application testing to ensure that products and systems meet customer requirements. This role involves post-sales technical support to resolve customer issues, defining and supporting pre-order requirements, and ensuring accurate product solutions for both direct and distribution sales. The engineer will also conduct product training and support trade show activities, working closely with customers and sales representatives to deliver effective solutions while maintaining company profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-sales technical support and application testing to ensure products meet customer requirements.
  • Offer post-sales technical support to resolve customer issues.
  • Define and support all pre-order requirements for accurate product solutions.
  • Conduct application requirements reviews, site visits, and equipment set-up/testing.
  • Design application-specific options to meet customer applications.
  • Provide product training for Sales, Service, and customers.
  • Assist in trade show setup and support.
  • Work with customers and sales representatives to define product solutions that satisfy application requirements.
  • Provide technical and commercial assistance to Sales for customer meetings.
  • Design solutions, costing, and quotations to support sales opportunities.
  • Validate pre-sales analysis of product functionality when required.
  • Participate in information gathering meetings with clients to determine needs and goals.
  • Provide presale technical, communication, and programming support for special applications.
  • Ensure order development activity is customer-focused and compliant with requirements.
  • Consult with various departments to resolve technical product issues.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting assistance to help desk, field service, and end users.
  • Act as the primary contact for technical, engineering, design, and quality issues.
  • Complete technical product training for various departments.
  • Attend and support tradeshow activities including equipment setup and customer demonstrations.
  • Test alternative techniques and methods; recommend changes as necessary.
  • Benchmark and evaluate competitive products and support new product development activities.
  • Review and provide guidance on technical bulletins per product group.
  • Participate in training sessions and continuing education to stay updated on technical developments.
  • Maintain focus on continuous improvement and make process improvement recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering field or Associate's degree with 5 or more years of related experience.
  • Five years of relevant experience, with at least two years in application engineering preferred.
  • Experience in the design and development of programmed applications.
  • Knowledge of electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, and computer programming preferred.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or other design software preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate technical reports.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication, and presentation skills.
