About the position

Tenneco is seeking an Application Engineer to join our team in Plymouth, MI. As a leading designer and manufacturer of automotive products, Tenneco is committed to delivering superior customer service and advancing our Friction Products business. The Application Engineer will play a crucial role in the design and development of friction products tailored to meet customer needs. This position involves defining customer requirements, selecting appropriate materials, conducting validation testing on dynamometers and vehicles, performing failure analysis, and collaborating closely with customers and manufacturing plants to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions. In this role, the Application Engineer will actively participate in customer teams, managing current business situations while also setting the strategic direction for future projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to interface with both internal and external customers, ensuring that their needs are met promptly and effectively. Responsibilities will include driving issue resolution, preparing and delivering detailed presentations to customers, and traveling to manufacturing facilities as needed to support business operations. The Application Engineer will also be responsible for completing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables, including Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan (DVP), drawing releases, and the Skills Matrix for AE2.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering
  • 2-5 years of experience
  • Testing knowledge
  • Manufacturing knowledge (desirable)
