About the position

The Applications Engineer at Mazak Corporation plays a crucial role in supporting the sales team by providing technical expertise on the operation and application of Mazak machine tools. This position focuses on ensuring efficient production of customer parts with high quality, while also engaging in customer support, machine demonstrations, and process development.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
  • Provide telephone/e-mail customer support on the operation and use of Mazak Products
  • Provide part processing/machine recommendations to best produce customer parts as the stated part volumes
  • Calculate time study estimates of machine cycle time
  • Calculate a cost to manufacture customer parts including labor, tooling, and work holding costs
  • Conceptually design work holding and tooling as needed to support the manufacture of customer parts
  • Demonstrate machine operation and machine features at trade shows and open house events
  • Safely rig and install machines in Technology Centers and at trade show events
  • Provide customer training on safe machine operation and detailed machine functions at the customer facility
  • Perform test cuts to demonstrate machine capability/prove processing concepts
  • Perform full-turn key process development and testing including statistical analysis of part measurement

Requirements

  • Associates degree or certification in a related technical field plus two years of experience in a machine tool related field, or three to five years' experience in a related position is required
  • Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred
  • Strong ability to communicate both written and orally with upper management, vendors, and customers
  • Proven ability to effectively work in a team environment with other engineers
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Mechanical ability to build fixtures, assemble tools and rig and level machines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically strong in Excel
  • Experience with Mazatrol, EIA/G-Code Programming, CAD/CAM Programming software, Esprit or Mastercam, Fusion 360 or other
