About the position

We are looking for an experienced Application Engineer to design, develop, and implement software solutions that meet our customers' needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality software products. As an Application Engineer, you will work closely with the development team, customers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, design solutions, and ensure successful implementation. Your responsibilities will include supporting the sales team as the product expert during customer emails, calls, or visits. You will analyze customer applications and recommend solutions to their control system challenges based on our group's product offering and core competencies. In this role, you will meet with customers and conduct site surveys of industrial automation control systems to gain an understanding of project opportunities. You will gather information needed to work with project engineers and managers to develop solutions that address customer requirements. Utilizing your industry process knowledge and product application expertise, you will prepare system configuration drawings, commercial and technical proposals by studying system schematics, specifications, plans, and related customer documents, consulting with engineers and other professional and technical personnel. Additionally, you will present technical and commercial proposals to customers, follow up with existing customers, and foster new business relationships while supporting multiple locations as required. Your expertise will include working with PLC products such as Allen Bradley, GE, Siemens, and Reliance Electric, as well as drive systems from ABB, Allen Bradley, GE, and Siemens.

Responsibilities

  • Support sales team as the product expert during customer emails, calls, or visits.
  • Analyze customer applications and recommend solutions to their control system challenges based on our group's product offering and core competencies.
  • Meet with customers and conduct site surveys of industrial automation control systems to gain understanding of project opportunities.
  • Gather information needed to work with project engineers/managers to develop solutions to address customer requirements.
  • Use industry process knowledge and product application expertise to recommend solutions for customers.
  • Prepare system configuration drawings, commercial and technical proposals by studying system schematics, specifications, plans and related customer documents, consulting with engineers, and other professional and technical personnel.
  • Present technical/commercial proposals to customers.
  • Follow-up with existing customers and foster new business relationships; supporting multiple locations as required.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience in industrial automation.
  • Experience working with PLC, AC & DC Drive systems, and HMI products.
  • Metals processing knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Willingness and desire to participate in ongoing training to maintain technical competency in automation products, software and complimentary areas.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
