About the position

The Product Applications Technician (Onsite - Fremont, CA) plays a crucial role in the analysis and testing of Nextracker products and their associated processes. This position requires a self-motivated individual with a strong technical aptitude and excellent interpersonal skills, capable of adapting to a dynamic environment characterized by a rapidly growing customer base and expanding product offerings. The technician will be responsible for managing Form-Fit Function tests, which includes data collection and report generation, as well as assisting with various projects and test setups in the R&D yard. In this role, the technician will conduct testing both in the yard and at project sites, collecting relevant data to oversee all testing and construction activities related to the products. This includes testing individual product parts and building sections of new products in the yard. The technician may also need to travel occasionally to vendor and project sites as required. Providing customer service and support in a dynamic environment is essential, as is the validation of new designs and parts from new vendors. The technician will review installation manuals and procedures to ensure product compliance and replicate customer-reported issues in the R&D yard for troubleshooting purposes. Effective communication, both orally and in writing, is vital for coordinating requirements and priorities across different teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Form-Fit Function tests, including data collection and report generation.
  • Utilize measurement tools such as tape measures and calipers.
  • Assist with projects and test setups in the R&D yard.
  • Conduct testing in the yard or at project sites and collect relevant data.
  • Oversee all testing and construction activities related to testing.
  • Test individual product parts and build sections of new products in the yard.
  • Occasionally travel to vendor and project sites as needed.
  • Provide customer service and support in a dynamic environment.
  • Validate new designs and parts from new vendors.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Requirements

  • 5 years experience in product testing, or a BA in related field.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting product drawings.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Proficient with basic hand tools.
  • Familiarity with Arena and Jira.
  • Knowledge of CAD/SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of Nextracker products is highly desirable.
