Mazak Corporation's Western Applications department is searching for an Applications Engineer to join the team. The Applications Engineer plays a crucial role in assisting the Sales staff by providing technical information on the use of Mazak machine tools to produce customer parts and products efficiently and with robust quality. This position is based at our Western Technology Center located in Gardena, CA, and involves a variety of responsibilities that ensure the effective operation and application of our machine tools in customer environments. The Applications Engineer is responsible for creating a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. This includes providing telephone and email customer support regarding the operation and use of Mazak products. The role requires the engineer to make part processing and machine recommendations to optimize the production of customer parts based on specified part volumes. Additionally, the engineer will calculate time study estimates of machine cycle times and assess the costs associated with manufacturing customer parts, including labor and tooling/work holding costs. In this position, the engineer will also conceptually design work holding and tooling as needed to support the manufacturing of customer parts. Demonstrating machine operation and features at trade shows and open house events is a key aspect of the role. The engineer will be responsible for safely rigging and installing machines in Technology Centers and at trade show events, as well as providing customer training on safe machine operation and detailed machine functions at customer facilities. Performing test cuts to demonstrate machine capability and proving processing concepts is also part of the job. The engineer will engage in full turnkey process development and testing, including statistical analysis of part measurements. Approximately 15% of travel is required for this position.
