About the position

The Applications Engineer position at Actalent is a pivotal role that focuses on delivering exceptional customer service and technical support to our sales representatives. This role requires constant interaction with customers and internal sales teams, ensuring that all inquiries and requests are handled promptly and accurately. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing quotations, conducting sales presentations, and engaging in customer entertainment activities, all while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and technical expertise. In this role, the Applications Engineer will develop and utilize sales and marketing tools to support the sales force effectively. This includes offering product application support and pricing assistance for hygienic air handling units and factory-built penthouse evaporators, specifically tailored for the Food & Beverage markets. The position demands a proactive approach to customer interactions, ensuring that all technical queries are addressed and that the sales team is equipped with the necessary information to succeed. The Applications Engineer will also be involved in creating marketing materials such as brochures, engineering bulletins, and technical white papers. Additionally, the role includes researching industry trends and conducting comparative analyses of various technologies to provide informed recommendations to both the sales team and customers. The position requires evaluating project specifications, product schedules, and design drawings to ensure that all customer needs are met effectively. Travel is an essential component of this role, as the Applications Engineer will visit North American IR representative offices and customers, host factory visits, and participate in customer entertainment activities. Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and accurate responses to representative sales force.
  • Give technical sales presentations to customers.
  • Check orders and submittals for accuracy.
  • Provide timely quotations.
  • Participate in industry related trade associations.
  • Create marketing brochures, engineering bulletins, and technical white papers.
  • Research industry and provide comparative analysis on other forms of technology.
  • Evaluate project specifications, product schedules and design drawings.
  • Test unit selection software during updates.
  • Travel to North American IR representative offices and customers.
  • Host Factory Visits and Participate in Customer Entertainment Activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Chemical, with coursework in Thermodynamics.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with internal teams and outside sales force.
  • 2-5 years of application engineering or sales experience in the Industrial Refrigeration field preferred, but college graduates seeking an entry-level position will be considered.
