About the position

The Application Engineer will provide technical support and assistance to customers in selecting products for unique applications, ensuring successful installation and troubleshooting. This role involves project coordination, maintaining customer relationships, and utilizing process management tools to deliver optimal solutions. The engineer will also conduct product analysis, manage customer requests, and support training and trade shows, all while collaborating closely with internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer assistance for product selection for unique, special, or technical applications.
  • Offer installation and troubleshooting support, both technical and hands-on.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Coordinate projects and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Analyze information and provide the best possible solutions based on experience.
  • Translate customer specifications into product selections that meet business needs.
  • Conduct product tear-down analysis and populate data for root cause identification and corrective actions.
  • Take responsibility for key tasks on a project-by-project basis and ensure project success.
  • Resolve challenges related to drawings, design tolerances, quality, and material requirements.
  • Deliver product training and develop content for customer familiarization.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, inspection, and assembly to solve issues.
  • Manage customer request queue and response time expectations.
  • Support training and trade shows with some travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, a technical discipline, or equivalent experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, including complex diagrams and blueprints.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of Engineering BOMs and drawings preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret design prints and customer specifications.
  • Experience with SAP and Salesforce preferred.
  • Flexibility with work hours to maintain a minimal backlog.
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in project management or coordination.
  • Familiarity with reverse engineering of competitor products.
