About the position

As an innovation leader at Gates, you will play a crucial role in providing engineering services to customers in the fluid power and power transmission sectors. This position involves hands-on collaboration with engineering customers, troubleshooting product issues, and designing solutions that meet specific application needs. You will work closely with the Industrial Application Engineering team and report to the Fluid Power Field Application Engineering Lead, primarily focusing on the Industrial Replacement market.

Responsibilities

  • Providing engineering service to customers and clients in the proper application and selection of fluid power products.
  • Effectively presenting technical and product training material to internal and external customers.
  • Working cooperatively with North American Field Sales, Product Line Managers, and the Marketing Team to achieve organizational success.
  • Analyzing application requirements, providing failure analysis, selecting components, and making recommendations to meet system requirements.
  • Troubleshooting any questions customers pose via phone, email, and in-person.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 5+ years of progressive engineering experience OR 5-10 years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Eager to be hands-on working with customers, engineers, sales, and marketing teams.
  • Engineering discipline with a focus on Mechanical and Fluid Power systems, preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to manage customer personalities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, coupled with the ability to maintain and generate product application literature, media, and technical articles.
  • Ability to travel to customers, plants, and conferences as required (minimum 50%).
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize resources and project timelines.
  • Power Transmission experience, also preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
