The Application Engineer designs and develops components and systems per customer request, modifying existing designs. She/he applies engineering principles to develop mechanical or electronic/electrical products/systems that meet customer technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements. He/she conducts mathematical modelling to determine if proposed designs are technically feasible.
