About the position

Our client is a leading manufacturer of plastic compounds used in a variety of industries. They are seeking an Application Engineer to support their sales efforts. In this role, you will provide technical support to identify new opportunities and support their clients' continuing demands for innovative product solutions. Additionally, you will lead the effort to investigate product problems and provide solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide customers technical services, providing solutions to solve customer issues.
• Improve existing products to meet customers' performance requirements.
• Develop new products as requested to meet customer specifications.
• Test alternate raw materials that can help reduce product cost.
• Help develop customer specifications and conduct product trials.
• Provide benchmarking of compounding products.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Polymer Engineering
• 5-7 years of experience in compounding or processing Polyolefins.
• An understanding of injection molding, blow molding or extrusion of Polyolefins products with the ability to provide process troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement methodologies, with Six Sigma, Kaizen, and/or LEAN certifications/belts preferred.
• The ability to travel as required (30% to 60%).
