About the position

The Application Engineer role at Gates involves working collaboratively with engineering customers to design and recommend solutions for various product applications, particularly in fluid power and power transmission. This position requires a hands-on approach, engaging with customers in the field and in the office to troubleshoot issues and develop innovative solutions that meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Providing engineering service to customers and clients in the proper application and selection of fluid power (hydraulics) products.
  • Working cooperatively with North American Field Sales, Product Line Managers, and the Marketing Team to achieve organizational success.
  • Analyzing application requirements, providing failure analysis, selecting components, and making recommendations to meet system requirements.
  • Troubleshooting customer product issues and designing solutions using Gates products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 5+ years of progressive engineering experience OR 5-10 years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Eager to be hands-on working with customers, engineers, sales, and marketing teams.
  • Engineering discipline with a focus on Mechanical and Fluid Power systems, preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to manage customer personalities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to maintain and generate product application literature, media, and technical articles.
  • Ability to travel to customers, plants, and conferences as required (10 to 50%).
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize resources and project timelines.
  • Fluid Power experience, preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
