About the position

The Application Engineer role at Actalent involves supporting Project Managers in the design and implementation of automation equipment systems controls. This position requires collaboration with internal departments and customers to ensure that project specifications are met from concept to final implementation, while managing multiple projects with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers and Site Management in decision-making processes.
  • Determine guidelines for control systems based on sales phase specifications and customer expectations.
  • Act as a product owner for project software, ensuring it meets specified requirements and functionality.
  • Select project control systems and monitor project engineering execution according to the plan.
  • Guide electrical design to meet project-specific requirements.
  • Emphasize and monitor safety as a top priority in collaboration with Project Managers.
  • Assist Project Manager in developing and monitoring detailed project schedules.
  • Ensure technical solutions meet customer expectations according to project specifications.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure project quality and report deviations.
  • Track and record Lessons Learned with the Project Manager.
  • Document all meetings and follow through on action plans to ensure task completion.
  • Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs under Project Manager's guidance.
  • Report and escalate issues to the Project Manager as needed.
  • Participate in risk management to minimize potential risks.
  • Communicate technical matters with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Coordinate project activities including layout, problem-solving, and acceptance of system implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 1-2 years of related experience in project management or engineering in the automation industry.
  • Ability to create, read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
  • Strong communication skills to present information and respond to questions from various stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is a plus.
  • Japanese language skills are considered a plus.
